Alternately described as “seductive”, “moody” and “charmingly hopeful”, Gold Coast indie band Taylor will close out the Live at Bond Sunday sessio
Taylor’s New Single ‘Little Tornado’ Explores the Destructive Nature of Love
Fresh of the back of supporting The Whitlams and Boy and Bear, Taylor are bringing their unique style and swagger into 2018 with a new recording set to stun. Little Tornado, the first single off their upcoming EP will be unleashed on Friday 8 June. They’re looking forward to an East Coast single tour kicking off on 14 June 2018 and running till July 27 2018 with shows in Byron Bay, Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
Little Tornado is a heartbreaker of a track featuring a delicately beautiful melody that will make your heart yearn shamelessly. Intensely fragile, raw and earnest in it’s delivery and sung with extraordinary conviction by frontman David Taylor, Little Tornado contrasts powerfully heavy emotion with a soaringly uplifting performance. Shades of eminent artists Ryan Adams, Nick Cave and Dave Matthews Band shine through on this track.
‘Little Tornado delves into the destructive patterns we form in romantic relationships’ says David Taylor, ‘it’s about being under the wondrous spell of love, and wanting to whisk that love away, far from judgement and reality.’
Recorded at The Aviary studio in Melbourne by producer George Carpenter, a graduate of the Bachelor of Popular Music from Queensland Conservatorium who is rapidly garnering a solid reputation for his engineering and production talent. The song was recorded live to tape as some of the greatest recordings of all time have been done, and will be pressed to vinyl on the forthcoming EP.
Seductive, moody and theatrical, Taylor evokes the charming sort of hope that emerges from the dark corner of the room. The band has honed a style and sound sophisticated in its harmony with the lyrical landscape of singer/ songwriter David Taylor’s rich vocal timbre intensified by his impressive collection of virtuoso musicians including Nick Stewart from ARIA award winning band George, Conservatorium trained Crick Boue on bass, Michael McCartney (Ash Grunwald, Jimmy the Saint and the Sinners) and gifted multi- instrumentalist Scott French.
David Taylor—a Queensland native—brings an eclectic history to his current musical endeavours. He has featured in several theatre roles and has worked as a scenic artist on many of the Gold Coast’s major motion pictures. He has even worked as a stunt performer at Universal Studios in Japan. But music and songwriting is his greatest love with his lyrical prowess a clear standout.
‘Perhaps I’m attracted to the chaos, to the unstable connection between the head and the heart.’ he says of his inspiration for Little Tornado. ‘I set out to find the quiet, the elusive calm in the eye of the storm. Somewhere along the voyage I got lost, seduced by the howling wind and the blinding rain. I’d fallen in love again.’
